Board Member
Alexander Muresanu is Chair of the Carlson Family Foundation, where he has served
on the board since 2017. Notably, he is the first Chair not raised in Minnesota and the
first fourth-generation leader of the foundation. In his role as Chair, he is focused on
effective board governance to ensure that the foundation’s work with the community
fulfills its mission to create opportunity, hope, and a sense of belonging for every young
person.
His commitment to community well-being is evident in his prior involvement with
Peer Health Exchange, where he served on both the Next Council and the New York
Advisory Board, focusing on youth health education. At the Melting Pot Foundation,
Alexander’s operational expertise was instrumental in opening the Brownsville
Community Culinary Center (BCCC). This impactful initiative provided vocational
training and hands-on experience in the culinary arts for residents of Brooklyn’s
Brownsville neighborhood.
Alexander holds a degree in History from Harvard College (’16) and deepened his understanding of human behavior through postbaccalaureate
studies in Psychology at Columbia University (2019-2021). During his time at Columbia,
he contributed to research in the Metacognition and Memory Lab and the Socio-
Ecological Psychology Lab. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife, son, and their two
beloved cats.
