Mr. Akabas received a B.A. in economics, cum laude, from Princeton University, a Masters of Journalism from the Pulitzer School of Journalism at Columbia and a J.D. degree from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Mr. Akabas was a Law Clerk to Judge David N. Edelstein, former Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court in Manhattan. He was associated with two corporate law firms before founding his own firm where he has worked since, Akabas & Sproule. He has served on, and continues to serve on, numerous boards of for-profit and not-for-profit companies. He is married and has four grown children.
