Cindy began her recovery career in 2008 at The Retreat, teaching women about the signs and effects of domestic violence. While there, she conducted weekly support groups and developed life skill improvement programs for women living in domestic violence shelters. Also during that time, Cindy earned her CAI degree from Arise Intervention Training and trained at Coaching for Transformation, certifying her as a Life Coach.
In 2010, she founded her company The Recovery Coach NY, built on the Recovery Coaching program she developed. Her program is based on the philosophical theory of holism: “The system as a whole determines in an important way how the parts behave.” In most cases of addiction, family members and loved ones become co-dependent and enable cycles of addiction. With Cindy’s method the entire support system is worked with and treated.
Cindy continues her work by offering a multitude of support systems to clients and their loved ones, including individual and family education and coaching, transportation of clients to and from treatment centers, sober coach and companion services, and mentoring clients on various self-help strategies and effective coping mechanisms.
Cindy received her CAC from Pace University in 1993 and is a faculty lecturer at Adelphi University School of Social Work – Post Graduate Program in Addictions. She is also on the Board of Center of Motivation and Change Berkshires and the 2014 recipient of the Caron Addiction Professional of the Year.
